The WORLD ASSOCIATION FOR SEXUAL HEALTH (WAS) RECALLS the WAS Declaration of Sexual Rights, which states that everyone has the right to education, including comprehensive sexuality education.
Dear DGG, As we strive towards our vision of Sexual Health, Rights, Justice, and Pleasure for ALL, the role of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) cannot be understated. We recall our shared commitment to the WAS Declaration of Sexual Rights, which emphasises everyone’s right to education, particularly CSE that is accurate, culturally competent, and rooted in human rights and gender equality. Despite global efforts, we are concerned about the significant number of young individuals without access to crucial education for safe, informed decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health. Hence, we stress the importance of early, age-appropriate CSE. Read the WAS Statement on Comprehensive Sexuality EducationAs we reaffirm our commitment to supporting sexuality education, we eagerly anticipate the 26th WAS World Congress in Antalya, Turkey, from November 2nd to 4th. This event will honour significant contributions to CSE and highlight our Sexual Justice Initiative, promoting the right to CSE for all. We hope to see you there!
